Benefits

Belonging to NMOA is a good way to meet and become acquainted with other orthopaedic surgeons in the state. NMOA typically has meetings concurrent with the University of New Mexico's Annual Carrie Tingley Hospital meeting in late January/early February and the University of New Mexico Department of Orthopedics Annual Alumni Meeting in June.

NMOA will be your voice addressing and advocating for issues affecting your practice of Orthopaedics. We attend the Workers Compensation Administration Advisory Council meetings and speak up for Physicians. There are no physicians on the regular Advisory Council, but one of the NMOA Board members is a member of the Medical Advisory Board and attends those meetings. We retain a lobbyist, John Anderson, who represents the physician's interests at the Legislature and regular WCA Advisory Board meetings. Through and with him, we speak for orthopaedic physicians at the State Legislature and the Administration.
